Barre is a low-impact workout, which means it is really easy on the joints. Also, barre is designed to create strength in flexibility, which means that barre can be looked at as an injury preventative exercise.
There are core exercises worked into practically every exercise that is done in class, and a strong core is linked to less lower back pain.
In addition to that there is always extensive glute work done during class, which is beneficial because strong glutes lead to less back pain as well, and will help you walk better.
The upper body section of a barre class is designed to help with your posture. This is done through high repetitions of upper body exercises with light weights (2-3lbs,) or even just your body weight.
Lastly, barre classes encompass a lot of balance and stability work, which is an all around beneficial skill to apply in our day to day lives.
